Brush it off

Birds in watercolour and ink

Work is very busy at the mo and because I work intensively on a screen, the last thing I want to do when evening comes is post on social media. <insert green faced emoji here>

I find it’s crucial to switch off from the online world and do something non-digital. I also find I need to both live with and bypass that vague sense of guilt about not updating my feeds... the sense that I might be seen as AWOL, although in real life (like every other human being on the planet) I’m very present in my life. Social media smacks too much of Victorian-social-mores to me…

Anyway, painting with a brush really helps. I find it enjoyable not because it’s easy or because it always comes out the way I want it to, but because it focuses the attention and brings me back to the tangible world.
